Augustus Leopold Egg (b. 2 May 1816, in London – d. 26 March 1863, in Algiers) was a British Victorian artist, best known for his modern triptych Past and Present (1858), which illustrates the destruction of a middle-class Victorian family. He was a member of The Clique group established by Richard Dadd in late 1830’s

Richard Dadd (b. 1 August 1817, in Chatham, Kent, England – d. 7 January 1886, in Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England) was a Victorian English painter celebrated for his intricate depictions of fairies, mystical subjects, and enigmatic genre scenes. His works, characterized by meticulous detail, often featured Orientalist themes. Dadd created many of his famous pieces while undergoing treatment at Bethlem and Broadmoor hospitals for mental health issues.
